Caipora is a window to Brazilian fashion + décor. It was born out of a longing for the colours and shapes from back home.
Brazilian design is one of the world's best-kept secrets. Ask any Brazilian you know, and they'll tell you. Brazilian clothes, accessories and décor are stunning. So different to anything you find in Europe. There are colours, textures, materials and stories. Always a story.
The Guardian Of The Forest
Caipora is a mythological creature originating amongst indigenous populations of the Amazon rainforest.
She is often depicted as a strong, independent woman whose mission it is to patrol the forest in defense of its wildlife.
It is her spirit that inspires us.
We work with incredible designers and entrepreneurs from Brazil, most of whom are women, and all of whom are determined to make the world a better place. Their brands are sustainable, ethical, sometimes B-Corp.
It is our mission to bring these brands to the world, and help you discover them.
Caipora
We will always bring you a curated selection of Brazilian designers, ranging from fashion to décor. Every brand on our website is hand-picked, and each designer is actively collaborating with us to bring you the best of their work. When you shop on our website, you are directly supporting the independent designers from Brazil.
We only work with brands who support our sustainability and inclusivity agenda. Brands who employ fair labour, utilize sustainable raw materials, and seek to make a positive impact to the communities around them. We work with brands who have a story to tell. Brands who produce directly with individual artisans, with local NGOs, or whose DNA is a love letter to the most remote regions of Brazil.
We bring you brands that even Brazilians may not know about. We scoured the country, up and down (trust us, it's big!) to bring you the best of Brazilian design. And we will continue to do so, offering you a little window to discover our country, and show you our work.
Our Story
Exporting from Brazil is a tricky process. Behind Caipora are two co-founders who have experienced this first-hand. Júlia launched her own fashion brand in 2022. A London resident, she wanted to produce everything in her home town of São Paulo to support the local communities and leverage the local materials. She quickly discovered the web of red-tape required to export from Brazil. It was costly, confusing and more than a tad complicated. Fred had over a decade of experience consulting fashion brands in Brazil. He'd helped a number of brands reach international clients, and wanted to expand on this to help small independents do the same.
Together they mapped out the easiest, most efficient way to get Brazilian fashion to the world. They connected with brands with similar aspirations, and partnered with them to create Caipora. Caipora is a shop window that starts in London but looks directly to Brazil. Through Caipora, you can discover brands that would otherwise remain a secret to the outside world. We aren't just a marketplace for these brands. We help them with every step in their journey to reaching you, our international customers.
Caipora aggregates a number of small brands to reduce their costs of exporting, whilst helping them navigate the red-tape and bureaucracy required. We create a shared structure amongst them, that helps make their exporting feasible for them, and more affordable for you. Fred and Júlia work behind the scenes not only to curate and maintain the marketplace, but also to ensure that all these brands get the access and visibility they deserve, even if they are small independents.
